Workin' on it

Hey guys this is Drea Daphne and yes I haven't been as dutiful as I'd like with my postings or even my exercise schedule.

But as of last week I have gotten 4 days of yoga, a very sad run in and a day of weight lifting in with my dad. And let me tell you, my dad is weird when working out. I may or may not continue weight lifting with him. The yoga is easier for me to gather motivation as oppose to any other form of exercise. This week hasn't gone as well as I'd hoped but hey I can recognized that there is a problem. So now I just have to figure out a solution.

I've been decent with the food restrictions. Pop is only consumed as a chaser for alcohol. I've completely stayed away from all fast foods (much to my parent's dismay). The one sweet a day rule isn't going so hot but I have stopped eating out of boredom.

So overall mixed results with the food. Pitiful results with the exercise. Phoenix and I are chatting but I think we need to be harder on each other to force better results.

The Name of the Game

I (Drea Daphne) am a lazy person who, in order to exercise regularly, needs someone who's willing to go to the gym with me or will keep me on-track. Some one to push me and that I can push back to make sure that we are trying to live as healthy and fit as we can. My friend Phoenix and I live 877.63 miles apart (but who's really counting). Phoenix is training to become a firefighter and has almost completed her EMT training. To encourage each other we created a blog to document our efforts and keep in touch. However, we really don't know when it will end.

The rules we have established are:

  1. 4-3 days of cardio, weightlifting, etc. 30 minute minimum
  2. 2-1 day(s) of yoga/Pilates
  3. 2 days of rest, Sunday must be one of them (to allow for recuperation from Saturday and plan the upcoming week's agenda)
  4. 2 post a week minimum, we will sign our name to clarify who's writing
  5. 1 picture post per month to mark progress
  6. Personal contact by phone, social media or video chat required at least every other day
  7. We will keep our Northern Michigan University tradition of Thirsty Thursdays via video chat
  8. No soda pop
  9. No deep fried food
  10. No fast food (excluding healthy choices from Subway, Jimmy Johns and/or Quiznos)
  11. 1 sweet allowed per day (sweets include but aren't limited to: cupcakes, muffins, brownies, cookies, ice cream, sherbet, donuts, cake etc.)
  12. No Hostess snacks of any kind
  13. Only whole grain pasta allowed
  14. 1 pizza allowed per month
  15. No more than 1 small bag of chips per day
  16. Eat healthy when dining out
  17. 1 snack of cheese allowed per day, all others must be substituted with a fruit or vegetable
  18. No pre-made salad dressings, red wine vinegar allowed

By creating a public blog we invite our friends to join us or at least harp on us when they see us cheating. This project will officially begin: Monday, August 13, 2012.
